Cricket series are not as popular as the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) versus Delhi Capitals (DC) rivalry has blossomed into one of the more interesting stories in IPL history. The two teams first fought each other in 2013, and throughout their 25 matches against each other, dating back to their first match in 2013, SRH has won 13 of the matches to DC’s 12.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals Timeline IPL 2013 to 2025
The Sunrisers Hyderabad were the new franchise in the league in 2013 after the IPL terminated the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) first faced Delhi Capitals (DC), then known by the name Delhi Daredevils (DD), on 4th May 2013 and won the match by 3 wickets.
DC vs SRH, IPL 2013 Match no. 14th and 48th
DC and SRH faced each other for the first time in Delhi to play the 14th game of the season. While the SRH were a new franchise in the league, they defeated the Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets. The next face-off of DC vs. SRH came in the 48th match of IPL 2013. Delhi opted to bat first and posted a target of 81 for Hyderabad. SRH easily pull off the run chase, scoring 81 in 13.5 overs with just 4 wickets down.
SRH vs DC, IPL 2014 Match no. 12th & 32nd
Delhi and Sunrisers encountered each other in the 12th and 32nd matches of the season. In the 12th game, Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 4 runs, thanks to Aaron Finch (88*) and David Warner (58*). While Quinton de Kock strived to chase the target with 48 off 30, DC lost by 4 runs. In the 32nd match, played on 10th May, Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 8 wickets using the D/L method.
SRH vs DC, IPL 2015 Match no. 13th & 45th
In match 13 of IPL 2015, DC clinched victory for the first time against SRH. Delhi posted a total of 167 for their opponents. Sunrisers Hyderabad tried to chase the target but were dismissed for 163/8. DC and SRH also played game 45 of the season, where Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious by 6 runs. SRH produced 163 with 4 wickets down, however, DC’s run chase of 164 remained incomplete due to slow batting. Kedar Jadhav’s run chase of 63* is, however, unforgettable.

SRH vs DC, IPL 2016: DC won 42nd Match by 7 wickets & 52nd match by 6 wickets
In game 42 of the IPL 2016, SRH and DC faced each other at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. DC won the match by 7 wickets, thanks to the run chase by Quinton de Kock (44), Sanju Samson (34*), and Rishabh Pant (39*). Chris Morris became the player of the match for dismissing Kane Williamson at the crucial moment. The second match of the league on 20th May, 2016, ended with DC winning the game by 6 wickets. Karun Nair’s run chase of 83 not out is a spectacle to watch.
SRH vs DC, IPL 2017: 21st match SRH won by 15 runs & 40th match DC won by 6 Wickets
The two teams played two matches this season. While SRH won the first game against DC by 15 runs, DC retaliated in the next game and clinched victory by 6 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan (70) and Kane Williamson (89) were the top scorers for SRH in the first game, while Mohammad Shami dismissed Kane Williamson and David Warner in the second, which helped DC to win the game.
SRH vs DC, IPL 2018: SRH won both 36th & 42nd match by 7, 9 wickets
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals met in Hyderabad for the first game against each other in IPL 2018. They also played the next DC vs SRH of the season in Delhi. Both matches were won by SRH, first by 7 wickets and then by 9 wickets. Despite Rishabh Pant scoring an unbeatable 128, Shikhar Dhawan’s 92 not out and Kane Williamson’s 83 not out clinched victory for the SRH from the hands of DC.

DC vs SRH, IPL 2019: 16th, 30th & Elimination Final Match
DC and SRH met thrice in IPL 2019. The first encounter for Game 16th ended with SRH winning the match by 5 wickets. Delhi Capitals scored 129, losing 8 wickets, while Delhi Capitals produced 131, with 5 wickets down. Jonny Bairstow scored 48, which led DC to victory. In the 30th game, Delhi Capitals won by 39 runs. DC posed a target of 156 for SRH, however, SRH batters were bowled out for 116. The Elimination Final was played in Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on 8th May, 2019. Delhi Capitals won the game by 2 wickets, thanks to Rishabh Pant, who scored 49 off 21 balls.
DC vs SRH, IPL 2020: 11th, 47th & 2nd Qualifying Final Match
The two teams met in Sheikh Zayed Stadium for the 11th game of IPL 2020. Sunrisers Hyderabad claimed victory by 15 runs, thanks to Jonny Bairstow (53), David Warner (45), and Kane Williamson (41). In game 47 off IPL 2020, Wriddhiman Saha scored 87 to claim victory for SRH by 88 runs. The Scored produced 219 while restricted DC to 131. Both teams also played 2nd Qualifying Final at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on 8th November, 2020. Delhi Capitals won by 17 runs. While they scored 189 runs, they restricted SRH to 172.

SRH vs DC, IPL 2021: 20th & 33rd Match
In the 20th Game of IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals won in super over after scores were tied. When both teams were tied for 159, superover was played where in Delhi Capitals scored 8 runs and SRH scored 7 runs. In game 33, Delhi Capitals won by 8 wickets. SRH won the toss and chose to bat and produced 134, while DC registered 139 with 2 wickets down.
DC vs SRH, IPL 2022: DC won this 50th match by 21 runs
On 5th May, 2022, DC and SRH encountered in Mumbai for 50th game of the season. Delhi Capitals won by 21 runs, with David Warner scoring an unbeatable 92 for his side.
SRH vs DC, IPL 2023: Match no. 34th and 40th
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals faced off each other in 34th game of the season. DC won the toss and chose to bat, scored 144 for 9 wickets. On the other hand, SRH could amass only 137 in 20 overs. SRH claimed the 40th game against DC by 9 runs. SRH scored 197, while limiting DC to 188.

DC vs SRH, IPL 2024: SRH Beat the DC by 67 runs in 35th Match
The 35th match of IPL 2024 concluded with SRH defeating DC by 67 runs. SRH scored 266 (7 wickets down), and limited DC to 199. Travis Head was named player of the match for his batting score (89 off 32 balls).
DC vs SRH, IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals won by 7 wickets in 10th Match, 55th Match- no result
In the IPL 2025, DC and SRH have met twice for game 10th and 55th. In the first game, Delhi Capitals won by 7 wickets, thanks to Mitchell Starc, who dismissed 5 ket SRH batters, limiting them to 163 all out. For DC’s run chase, Faf du Plessis scored 50, Jake Fraser-McGurk hit 38, and Abishek Porel scored a 34 not out. In the net game, played on 5th May, 2025, the game concluded with no result as rain led the game to be abandoned in the middle.
